Peter has been awarded the commission to design and install a new gate entrance for a splendid historic house dating back to 1660 The project is nearing completion during summer 2011. Inspired by ironwork found around the estate the installation consists of specially fabricated piers after cast iron originals; round section railings core drilled into a dwarf wall; and fully automated gates for security. The gates have the family crest discreetly mounted on each gate leaf and these are cast in bronze.

18th December 2010. Castle Club of Rochester is presented with a Conservation Award.

Founded in 1797 the club building is a regal Georgian house and is a listed building requiring approval for any alterations from local conservation specialists. Winter 2010. A new steel hangar houses Peters' imports

Peters’ designs are shipped from Vietnam into Southampton port via sea freight container. From there they are delivered to the new unit where the cargo is unpacked awaiting delivery. This is a 2000sq ft industrial unit 20 minutes outside Carmarthen, South Wales.

Autumn 2010. Hais’ new factory complete

Hai (Peters’ business partner) has finished building a new modern steel industrial unit on a 2400sq metre plot. The factory covers 1000sq metres and is dedicated to the manufacture of fine ironwork. It is located on the outskirts of the rapidly growing city of Ho Chi Minh and Peter spends part of his year there working on his design projects together with Hai and his wife Nu.

Peter Weldon moves design office and family to South Wales

From the 9th October Peter Weldon Iron Designs Ltd has a new postal address – Pantglas Farmhouse, Bronwydd Arms, Carmarthen SA33 6BN. Why relocate to Wales? Peter Weldon says "I was looking for a creative environment in which to work and know Wales very well. I have work all over the UK and also projects overseas, all my design work is via email and so the location of my design office bears no relation to the final destination of the ironwork. Now surrounded by splendid countryside I have the space to work and think. I like the slower pace of life, the beach is also close by and I think my children will thrive here." Peter's yard, however, is still in Staffordshire and for the time being his imports will be distributed from there.

New Factory Opens in Vietnam

In June 2010 Peter's business partner Anh Hai opens a new larger Factory which will be purpose built and have improved facilities.

The Salvo Show, Knebworth House
26th to 28th June 2009.

Peter had a good show despite the changeable weather. Visit www.salvo-fair.com for details. His collection of man size galvanised robots were on display together with a collection of gates railings and garden benches

Grand Designs Show (10th -12th Oct 2008) and Interbuild (26th – 30th Oct 2008).
Peter had a good response illustrating his website using a plasma screen. The shows generated a lot of good leads and some significant orders that will be added to the portfolio soon but the overall impression was that the trade fairs were rather quiet in comparison to previous years.

October 2007 - Major Installation Completed.
One of the most significant installations of Autumn 2007 was the installation of Ethie Castle Garden Gates. Inspired by the Clandon Park Gates design, the ironwork has had a significant impact on the garden space and are much admired by all. Please visit Ethie Castle Gates in our gates with overthrows section to see how we can design and manufacture new work that can sit comfortably in historic settings.

August 2007 - Peter Weldon Iron Designs expands their UK facilities.
In August Peter has relocated the company's distribution and storage facility to Eccleshall in Staffordshire. In addition to increasing capacity, the move now enables customers to visit the facility (by prior arrangement) and view Iron Designs. Please note the company HQ at Repton House remains unchanged.

July 2007 - Knebworth Commission
Peter has been commissioned to recreate the famous gates at Knebworth house near Stevenage. It has taken more than a year for planning permission to be granted and Peter must now design copies of the gates to be hung in an archway entrance to the courtyard. This will provide additional security to the house and help to close the area during events and filming. Watch this space- the work will take around four months to complete.
